Officers from the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department were dispatched to the area of Raymond Avenue near New Hackensack Road shortly after 10 p.m. on Wednesday Oct. 3, where there was a report of a disabled vehicle whose driver required assistance.
Upon arrival at the intersection, officers located the vehicle, which had a flat tire, on the shoulder of the road with the driver in the front seat.
According to police, when they approached the driver, Wappinger Falls resident Juan Corona, to assist with the flat tire, it was determined that he was allegedly intoxicated. Further investigation found that he also was driving with a revoked driver’s license due to a previous alcohol conviction.
Corona, 32, was arrested and charged with felony counts of driving while intoxicated with a previous conviction and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. Following his arraignment in the Town of Poughkeepsie Court, Corona was remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond. He is due to appear back in court at a later date to answer the charges.
